We really got involved in the idea of public events back in 1996 when we teamed up with the Scottish CivicTrust (who co-ordinate Doors Open Days in Scotland) and the Young Archaeologists’ Club, in order to promote free events such as guided walks and talks on local archaeological sites.
National Archaeology Days proved so popular that it lead to the development of Scotland’s own Scottish Archaeology Month – a month of events held each September across Scotland and coordinated by Archaeology Scotland. Check out our program of events for this year.
The Council for British Archaeology co-ordinate the Festival of Archaeology which is held in July and offers a few Scottish events. Perthshire Archaeology Month is held in June each year and focuses on excavations in the area. More information can be found on the Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust website.
