Would you like to play a vital role in the Treasure Trove system in Scotland?

Scottish Ministers are seeking to appoint two professional members to the Scottish Archaeological Finds Allocation Panel (SAFAP) which provides advice to the Queen’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer about archaeological items discovered in Scotland, recommending whether the artefacts should be acquired for the nation, where they should be allocated and if a payment should be made to the finder.

Ideally candidates should have relevant experience in archaeology, archaeological conservation, commercial excavation and/or the care and exhibition of archaeological artefacts.  Applications from individuals with experience or skills in numismatics or valuing finds would also be welcome.

The Panel usually meets four times each year.  Members would be expected to attend all Panel meetings and any additional meetings and events. The total commitment is around 8 days per year.

The closing date for the receipt of applications is: 10 November 2017

Interviews will be held in Edinburgh on Tuesday 23 January 2018.  One successful applicant will be expected to take up post on 1 March 2018 and the other on 1 January 2019.
